Self Portrait 2012 Summer 2 by Adam-Nowak Self Portrait 2012 Summer 2 by Adam-Nowak
A series of quick self portraits I've begun for the summer to just have fun and experiment. This was mainly done for the muted cool colors.

This is really great, I always love a good use of impasto along with good lightning.

Just simply painting with values and shapes in mind and placing them next to each other so they fit together. : )

Regardless of technique, the form and light are right on. It has it's own presence. I enjoy your portraits, sir. Thanks for sharing.

Excellent. I like it a lot. This one has a very Lucian Freud feel to it.

Do you work off of pictures or do you use a mirror when making a self portrait?

I always use a mirror when I setup, it's much more fun and challenging that way.

I mix as I go but yes, singular strokes wiped frequently.
